An
unfortunate reality is that many California marriages will eventually
end in divorce. A recent survey indicates that there are some common
reasons why couples decide to go their separate ways. Most of those
reasons have to do with a lack of emotional intimacy or support by one
or both of the partners.
Nearly half of all participants claimed
their marriage lacked love and intimacy. Some stated they no longer had
feelings for their spouse or felt that their partner was no longer
romantically interested. Almost as many claimed a lack of communication
led to their marital woes. Since poor communication is an underlying
factor in many divorces, this one was actually no surprise.
Still others felt that their spouse did not show respect or sympathize with them. Some claimed that there had been a serious breach of trust
and that their partner had failed to restore it through his or her own
actions. The final reason given was that couples simply grew apart. Some
husbands and wives felt that after many years of marriage, they had
become different people and no longer shared the same goals and visions
they had when they first tied the knot. This left them unsatisfied and
wanting to end the marriage.
Many times, these factors lead to
irreparable damage that makes it impossible to save a marriage.
Accordingly, individuals might choose to seek divorce with the help of
an experienced family law
attorney. An attorney may help protect a client’s rights regarding
property settlement, child custody, parenting time and other matters to
make the process as easy as possible. An attorney may represent a
divorcing spouse during negotiations or if the case goes to litigation.
